The Lakes of Tempe is a 320 acre master planned community with a 50 acre manmade lake. The community, founded in 1971, is still considered one of the top places to live in the Valley of the Sun. The five miles of lake shoreline were designed by Julian George, who pioneered decorative rock work and created much of the landscape at Disneyland Anaheim.
* The Beach and Tennis Club provides a year-round heated pool, spa, saunas, tennis, racquetball, and basketball courts, gym, pool table, boat marina, and other amenities.
* A commercial district includes two waterfront restaurants, other businesses, and private offices.
* The development publishes a monthly newspaper and hosts picnics, parties, and boating events for residents and guests.
