Now a few from the ground up, Jack London Square in the Port of Oakland. Jack London (1876-1916) grew up in Oakland and spent his childhood playing on the waterfront now memorialized as Jack London Square. It's a mixed-use neighborhood with a monument to London. His adventures as an oyster pirate and sailor inspired his novel, The Sea-Wolf and other stories. This flag flies above the landing where you catch the tourist boats. We set off on the Sea Witch, for a Bay tour, including San Francisco. To see a short clip of our flag waving, click here Youtube.

An old crow stretches its wings as the rowing teams go by. The City has numerous vegan and vegetarian restaurants within walking distance of the Marriott. Here are the three closest to the hotel: Awaken Café, 1429 Broadway (.2 mi.) vegetarian salads and sandwiches; Golden Lotus, 1301 Franklin (.2 mi.) Asian vegan; and Nature Vegetarian, 1116 Franklin (.1 mi.) Asian vegan.
